PacerTerm is a multi-session, multi-window, multi-protocol terminal emulation application that includes PacerScript, an advanced, HyperTalk™ compatible scripting language, and SoftKeys, for creating custom macros that can launch scripts, enter commands or open other sets of macros. It supports drag and drop between terminal sessions and the Finder, allowing users to copy text and transfer files between the terminal window and the Finder. PacerTerm supports Apple's Communication Toolbox architecture and can support third party tools.
PacerTerm's Lineage
PacerTerm was originally developed by Pacer Software, Inc., which was acquired by AGE Logic and then NetManage. PacerTerm Change Notices
Changes for version 4.1.1:
- A bug that could cause crashes when closing MiniWindows when the "Close Windows Automatically" preference was enabled has been corrected.
Changes for version 4.1:
Contextual Menu support has been added for those lucky Mac OS 8 users.
PacerTerm 4.1 fully supports the contextual menu manager under Mac OS 8. Holding the control key and clicking on any window brings up a menu of available options for that window. Connect or edit settings from a terminal window, run a script or turn off script recording from script edit window, and edit SoftKeys or open SoftKey scripts from the SoftKey palette. Since the menus are contextual, you are only presented with the options currently available for the object you have clicked on (e.g. if a softkey does not have a script file associated with it, you can not edit the script). You can use this feature to discover what actions are available for an oblect, without searching the list of standard menus.
One caveat, the SoftKey toggle item on the SoftKey window (the little flag) does not function under Mac OS 8, even though it remains visible. To edit the SoftKeys under Mac OS 8, you can choose the menu item under settings or use the item in the conextual menu for the SoftKey palette.
